Soooo anyone excited about some of the new movies due out this year?

I have heard that Disney will be releasing the Princess and the Frog, which is the first classic fairy tale they've done in I don't know how long. It's animated, and they will be re-vamping it.

Also Pixar will be releasing a movie called: UP. It's about this grumpy old guy who makes his house float in the air via tons and tons of balloons. It looks interesting, but I'm not sure if I want to see it in theaters or not.

The MUST SEE of the year for me will be Night at the Museum(sp?): The Smithsonian. It has the potential to become an epic failure because it is a sequel which by rights are usually sucky... but they have all of the all star original cast coming back, which was pretty impressive in the first place. Plus I really like it since I've been to the Smithsonian that they go to! Go check out the trailer on yahoo movies!

Another movie I'm not sure if I'll see but sounds interesting all the same is called "Push"

An X-men/Heros/any-super-human-story rip off, Push is about 3 people. A younger guy who has the powers of telekenisis, a young girl who can see the future, and a chick whose power has something to do with thoughts.

So there are people across the globe with special powers, and this special military...organization tracks them down and forces them to become ultimate military weapons with no soul. The guy and the little girl don't want this to happen to them, and so the little girl says they have to find the only person on the face of the planet who has ever been captured and escaped from the military organization. (The chick with the thought powers.) The entire time they're doing this the little girl sees the outcome as them always dying, but she keeps pushing them to continue trying because they may be able to change the future.

Sorta intense!
Anyone else hear of any good ones? Right now "Mall Cop" and "Hotel for Dogs" are out. They sound interesting but I'm too cheap to go see them.  Grin

I'm sorta curious about live action anime movies such as DragonBall Z (not to sure about this one) and Akira. I wish the NGE movie has some more information about it...

....Dragon Ball Z live action... even saying that makes me want to laugh into infinity. The only way they could make it even more rediculous would be to have Dragon Ball Z live action on ice. HAHAHAH the mental images!!

On a positive side I found out Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The third book in the Chronicles of Narnia, should be made into a movie by 2010. Cheesy

I'm not particularly a movie person, but I went to watch Gran Turino with my friends last weekend. Honestly, I had no idea what the movie was about and it started off slow and maybe even a little confusing. But overall, I thought it was a really good movie. haha, I felt kind of embarrassed cuz I cried a bit during it XD And my friends knew... Tongue

It's probably more of a drama movie, with Clint Eastwood, but if you like that kind of thing, I suggest you give it a shot.

In all honesty, I am really not all that thrilled about the DBZ live-action movie. Then again, I should not think like that because I was that way about the Speed Racer that came out this past Spring/Summer. And I ended falling head over heels for that movie. There's some amazing memories about the day I saw that movie. Lmao. I don't know why it's ranked as one of the worst movies of 2008 or whatever. D: I found the movie amazing, and I love how they placed in a futuristic time-setting. It made it much more up to date, and much more visually appealing. Not to mention, a very, very attractive Speed Racer. x] People need to realize the 'cartoon' we saw here was cut to pieces. Anyone recall the 'speed-talking'? 'Hem. I shall not rant. This is the movies 2009 thread after all. >_>;

I'm not sure how old everyone here is, but I saw My Bloody Valentine 3D the night before it was to be in theaters. I adore Jensen Ackles (played Tom Hanniger in the film) and his acting (Much like Misha Collins; see my sig XD). I found his performance amazing. He had you not knowing which way the story was going & not knowing who was really who they said they were. I more than enjoyed that movie.. And the RealD technology/effects used. The 3D is definitely one of the major perks of seeing that movie. If your nearest theater is one of the many playing it in only 2D, go find the nearest theater playing it in 3D. The movie was intended for 3D, and therefore, go see it in its intended form. Just beware of the full frontal nudity scene. Though, 2 minutes into that part, you'll be laughing your arse off... At least I did.

Um... I noticed Push was mentioned before. I definitely wanna go see that. I'm totally digging Dakota Fanning's hair in that movie. Not to mention, I haven't seen her in a movie since Hide & Seek, and she was much younger in that. I'd like to see her more grown up. Lol. Her acting is great.

I'm a major horror/thriller/gore fan (hinted in my response to MBV3D, lol). ^^;
So it should come as no surprise that I'm anxiously awaiting the new Friday the 13th. My main interest in that film is that Jared Padalecki is leading in that movie. Another of my favorite men. Hahaha.

And I'm not entirely sure about the release date, year-wise, but I did see a trailer for the Wolverine movie coming out soon enough? If that's '09, which I think it is... I can't wait. I'm a Wolverine fangirl, at least, when it came to the X-Men movies. But yes... Wolverine? Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine.. Heck yes! x]
